Nudist beach / resorts
If you are into naturism, you will like Rio de Janeiro. Mainly because Brazilian girls tend to go to beaches with very tiny bikinis, and the same goes for some men who are used to wearing sungas. Of course, this isn’t nudity, but at least, it’s legal, and you can do it in any beach of Rio de Janeiro and nobody will judge you. So, that’s our first recommendation.

Praia do Abricó (Nudist beach)
Praia de Abricó is a nudist beach located in the Grumari neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, not so far from Barra da Tijuca. This will be the only nudist beach and resort that won’t be so far away from the city of Rio de Janeiro.
The place is beautiful. From this beach you will be able to see some small distant islands which creates a marvelous landscape. The beach has light sand and there are several boulders along the beach. The waves can be strong sometimes, so watch out if you want to get into the sea. The only downside of this beach is for people who don’t own a mean of transportation. You can go with a taxi, yes. But sometimes the signal is bad, and you won’t be able to call something to pick you up, so keep in mind that.
Now, regarding naturism, the beach can get very crowded in some days of the week, and you will be surprised at seeing a lot of people wearing clothes with their families. The thing is that the nudist part of this beach begins after a big rock which splits the beach in two. The west side of the beach is for families, and the east side is where naturists tend to go.
Praia Brava (Trindade) (Nudist beach)
This beach isn’t officially nudist but due to its isolation and forest which surrounds it, it has become an ideal resort for people who like naturism. Located between the big cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, this beach isn’t very close to Rio de Janeiro, the beach is located around 200 km away, but the travel will be worth it even for those who aren’t intro naturism.
How do I get there? Well, to make it simple, we have made a map for you. The important thing that you have to know is that in order to access to the beach, you have to walk around 20 minutes on a trail through the forest to reach the place. In a part, there is a fork, you have to turn right. The entrance of this trail is located at around 2 or 3 kilometers (around 1 mile) before arriving the small town of Trindade, anyway, you can find the point in the map we have made for you.
The ocean in this part can be very violent, but its far localization of any civilization makes it a beautiful and calm destination. Keep in mind that there isn’t shops nearby, so bring everything you consider necessary for the staying.
Praia Brava (Cabo Frío) (Nudist beach)
This beach is pretty far from Rio de Janeiro but since the place is pretty hard to access, many nudists take advantage of the loneliness of the place to take off their clothes.
Located in the south site of the Cabo Frio, Praia Brava is quite isolated from everything since the only way to access to Praia Brava is walking a narrow and long, but not too dangerous, trail. This trail starts from the park zone of “Ilha do Japones“.
Due to its isolation, you won’t find any kind of facilities here, so whatever you may need (water, food, suncream) you will have to carry it with you before starting the trail. Besides, there’s little natural shade here, so keep that in mind too.
Now, regarding naturism, this beach is attended also for surfers, but we can say there is peace between both groups and surfers don’t bother naturists and vice versa. There will be also adventurous people who just go for the trail, but most are also aware of the naturism present here.
Praia Olho de Boi (Nudist beach)
If we showed you Praia Brave (Cabo Frio) then, we are obliged to present Praia Olho de Boi too. It’s basically around 30 km northward from the other beach. Yes, still farther from Rio de Janeiro, but if you want to find naturist heavens in Brazil, you will have to make the effort.
Talking about the beach, is the smallest in this list and the hardest to access. As before, Praia Olho de Boi is extremely isolated. The only ways to access are only by water taxi or on foot via a jungle path of around 1.5 kilometers (1 mile) in length. But well, if you like adventure and naturism, the journey will pay off. Just keep in mind that there aren’t kiosks or shops there, so you will have to carry everything you will need.
Rincão Clube Naturista (Nudist Club)
This place isn’t so close to Rio de Janeiro but if you are looking for a nudist resort and walking long trails through the jungle isn’t for you, then you can consider paying a visit to Rincão Clube Naturista.
Surrounded by the Serra do Mar mountains and some woods, its location made it perfect if tranquility, peace, and a place to express your naturalness it’s what you are looking for.
Regarding the facilities, the place is huge, it counts with a big camping area which has illumination, points with energy, restrooms, showers with warm water and fridges. And what about the accommodations? Well, the place is practically a small town, there are a lot of “chales” and cottages all of them with energy, internet, water, and bathrooms. How can I stay safe?
If it’s the first time that you are in Rio de Janeiro or maybe, the first time that you come to Brazil, it’s important to learn about possible threads, dangers, scams, etc. In this way, you can avoid going to dangerous places or doing things that could compromise you. The more you know, the fewer are the chances that something wrong happens to you. For this reason, we consider important that a section like this is included in our blog.
Some advice
Let’s start with some obvious things that sometimes we tend to forget or ignore:
First, don’t make it clear that you are tourist. Act as if you know what you are doing or where you are going. In this way, if there is any thief, he won’t detect you so easily. And how can I do to pretend not being a tourists? There are some things you can do, for example: before leaving your place, plan beforehand where you will go and how. With this we mean that you should analyze the route you are going to take, in this way you will avoid dangerous zones and watching the map several times.
Second, the most frequent crime that occurs to tourists is pickpocketing. Usually, this happens in crowded areas or in public transport. The best, of course, would be to avoid public transport by using a private taxi. Now, if you don’t have the possibility of using an alternative mean of transport, what you should do is to keep your hands on your pockets at all cost. If you do so, it’s impossible that someone can steal you something from your pockets. In the case, you have a bag, embrace it and always keep an eye on it.
Finally, the last advice we would like to give you is to avoid carrying a lot of unnecessary belongings and money. Just take what you will need for the day. So, in the case someone steals something from you, you won’t lose much.
Places and regions that you should avoid
Time to answer the question that probably everybody was wondering. Is Rio de Janeiro safe for tourists? Well, Rio de Janeiro can be one of the most dangerous cities of the whole world. Of course, if you stay within the safe limits of the touristic zone, you won’t be in high danger. Now, if by naïveness you entered or are close to a favela, start walking back the way you did. There are several cases of tourists who entered accidentally to these ghettos because the GPS recommended that route and didn’t come out alive. So, investigate cautiously where are the favelas and see if the routes you are going to take pass close or through a favela, if that’s so, change that route immediately.
Going back to the touristic zone, you will be safe as long as you pay attention and don’t walk alone at night or very close to favelas in any moment of the day.
Some of the most dangerous fabelas
There are a lot of favelas in Rio de Janeiro. When there are several adjacent favelas, they are all politically group into “Complexo“. The most dangerous complexos are in the north of the city. Fortunately, there isn’t any sex tourism resort within our recommendations that is located there. It’s said that the most dangerous is one in the north called Complexo do Alemão.
We’ll share to you this map that we found (all credits to the creator) so you can have a better view of where these favelas are more or less located.
Scams that you should be aware of
If you are on the field, you most likely already know these common scams but in the case you are new to this, you should read a bit about them, so you are aware and can prevent falling on them.
Getting you drug
You may think, “I don’t take drugs so, it’s impossible that I fall for this”. But thieves can achieve it in several ways, let’s give some examples. A friendly girl on the street start talking to you and convince you of going for some drinks. She could have taken you to a bar in which the bartender has already put something on the drink or even, the girl puts something when you don’t realize. Then, she asks you to go to your hotel room and when the drug starts making effect you fall asleep and when you wake up, she has already stolen you everything.
There are even cases in which some girls put a drug on their nipples so, when she is having sex with a man, she makes him licks her nipples and so you get doped. There are many ways, the best way to avoid it is not engaging with street workers or trusting random girls who approached you in a friendly way.
Making you pay for unwanted services
Some girls can promise you typical sex-services but when you finish, she tells you that you have to pay more for extra services that she has given you which you consented but hadn’t agreed beforehand. If you want to avoid paying her, an accomplice or lady boy will come and make you pay by force. How to avoid it? Cash and dash
There are prostitutes that ask for you to pay in advance, and then she disappears without giving you any service. It can happen more often in Internet. How can I avoid this? If you are hiring someone by internet, use trustable and only hire girls who have a complete profile.
Blackmail
In some cases, girls take you to a place in which there are hidden cameras and have sex with you. Then, she sends you a menace that if you don’t pay certain money, then she will send this content to delicate contacts of yours or make it go viral. So, in this case, you should avoid going to the girl’s place and hiring a room in a motel instead.
It can also happen that you are having virtual sex with a girl, and she starts to ask you to send pictures. Be careful if you do it and try that your face, tattoos, or furniture of your house isn’t displayed on those photos.
